Grey - I wish I'd never heard of threads!

Posted by Cosmologicon on 2008/04/05 03:54

My game has been suffering some very frustrating lag, and I've spent all day trying to fix it. I could tell that it wasn't allocating time properly to the different threads, but I didn't know enough about threads to fix it. Finally I backed everything up and then sewed the two threads together into a big mess. The code is so horrible now, but it runs smoothly!

So it looks like I'm still in for now. But I have a lot of catching up to do tonight!

HoleInTheHeadStudios-1.9 - Ouch!

Posted by RB[0] on 2008/04/05 02:10

Well - here I was getting all fired up about getting the multiplayer in the game - and we come to realize that it totally is not working!

Basically - because we did this in sockets - a lot of the functionality is going to be difficult to do - and we just don't have the time.

DUN DUN DUN...

Markus is now going to try to write a server/client in twisted in a couple of hours - and then we're going to have to hack like mad to try and get the game fit to it :D

If this doesn't pan out we're just going to have a nice ai and some hotseat.

Wish us luck ;)

RoboCute - A Long Night Ahead

Posted by kfields on 2008/04/05 01:39

I'm down but I'm not out! If I can wrap up event processing there's still a chance of having something that resembles a game. Even if it is shoehorned. :)

C.A.T.:B.O.T. - Cat Academy of Technology: Beyond ODS' Techdog - Day 6 over Day 7 begins

Posted by Zahmekoses on 2008/04/05 00:08

Quick wrap up - HUGE progress was made. The game is mainly complete and what we urgently need to do is TESTING a lot.

Story is complete, Levels are complete (25 in total), Functions are all implemented as expected [only one-two missing]... if all goes well we WILL finish this entry before deadline closes in - but as it looks now, we will not get all items included that are left on our list.

What is missing?:
- Sound (! - urgently need to find some good sound files..)
- Music (? - it is planned, but we need to find enough spare time to compose it)
- Implementing the written Story
- Drawing a medium sized window for text-messages
- Drawing a bigger image as "Game Over"-Screen
- Activating some functions that were implemented, but deactivated for testing

So... Good luck to the other participants - We're eager to test your games, but for now: Hopefully we get all those last tiny things done that are missing [looks like no sleep for us today ^^")

P.S. New Screenshot is up - finally the Title Screen is revealed - as per tradition there will be no more screenshots after the Title Screen, so sorry for no ingame shots ;(

Ghetto VIking: The prophecy - Slowly becoming playable

Posted by j-1 on 2008/04/05 00:03

Today we have done a huge amount of things: We fixed the collision response, solved some strange bugs involving the enemies falling through everything and thus accelerating enough for you to not be able to even touch them, added animations, added cannons, lives, created music, created 5-or-so new levels. I think we might even get something that could be mistaken for playable within the next 23 hours!

HoleInTheHeadStudios-1.9 - Well - here we go...

Posted by RB[0] on 2008/04/04 23:59

24 hours - and I'm planning a 10 hour stint - 'til 4am :(
I had to go into work a little earlier than I was hoping - due to people callig in sick all over the place - so, cumulatively, I figure we lost about 10 hours coding time >:(

Now we get to see if we still are good at crunch time - or if our network stuff is too buggy and destroys us - ugg!

X-25 Unplugged - I feel like Picasso

After a few drawings for the intro cutscenes I've come to realize I'm not good at perspective at all. So bad. I hope you enjoy the drawings nevertheless :)
