April 2007 challenge: “The only way is up”

Spy Challenge - The Rather Ordinary Game Project - Mhm

Posted by ajdlinux on 2007/03/30 04:41

This is my first go at PyWeek, and in fact my first go at a real PyGame game. Unfortunately it *has* to be during the week when I have exams, so I may not actually finish it.

PyWarfare - PyGame

Posted by wegstar on 2007/03/29 23:13

Well, I managed to get a hacked, minimal python distribution along with pygame working on my Puppylinux live-cd environment. The reason for this is that my Windows is dead, and this offers a temporary solution and now, a work enviroment for pygame...

delta-v - Warmup: Turret Commander

Posted by alex on 2007/03/29 09:55

This was done in a day (around 10 hours) earlier this week in competition with another guy from uni. Shoot the squishy pink guys and get them to explode near the inky black baddies.

Turret Commander is the first game I've written in pyglet, the framework I'll be using for PyWeek. You'll need a decent graphics card, and either Python 2.5, or Python 2.4 with ctypes installed.

PROBE - Brainstorming

Posted by gcewing on 2007/03/29 05:38

Trying to cover the bases by coming up with an idea for each potential theme...
PROBE
After the final countdown, the only way you can go is up...

(Do I get bonus points for incorporating two themes at once?)

Study your planets. Plan your mission. Design your probe. Launch your probe and watch it blow up fly a successful mission and gather oodles of valuable scientific info. All while staying within budget.

Battleship Down
If you want world domination, don't stop 'till you've got enough... RABBITS!

RTS-style. Breed a hoarde of bunnies to wipe out the opposition and pwn the whole meadow.

(Ideas for the remaining themes to be developed.)

Welcome to World Corporation - White Pixel Ninja

Posted by Tee on 2007/03/28 17:16

Today I had some spare time, so I decided to finish my pyweek warmup game. It's very simplified from what I intended it to be, but at least it's somewhat finished.

Download White Pixel Ninja here. Feedback is appreciated.

One pixel was enough to make a ninja. :)

Team Quicksilver - Hey Richard...

Posted by RB[0] on 2007/03/28 02:59

It seems that there is a bug or something with the site,
several of the diary entries/threads say that the person who started the thread has had the latest post, when this is not alwas the case, am I just seeing things?

Among others...
These all say that whoever started the entry had the last post, but it is actually someone else who had posted last

Woody Tigerbaum's Interplanetary Package Delivery (Big Dice Games - PW4) - Preparing for PyWeek4

Posted by tsmaster on 2007/03/27 23:35

Well, I've blown off one set of obligations already - that's more time to spend brainstorming, perhaps even coding. Also, I've bookmarked this: Public Domain Images. Plenty of art there for the harvesting.

I don't have even that!
(where's the "randomize" button in the theme poll?)
