August 2015 challenge: “Data data data”

invisipin - invisipin: Done

Posted by Tee on 2015/08/15 22:10

Looks like I'm done, with a couple of hours to spare. Maybe after all these Pyweeks I'm finally figuring out how to manage the scope of my game? Nah...

I'm satisfied with the result. It's my usual stuff: I try to implement some idea or mechanic that I haven't seen around. This one is fairly experimental, so I don't really know how fun it is. Hopefully some of you enjoy it!

Navigating The Data - 3 hours to go

Forget "polished". Let's aim for "playable, somehow".

Hacker Intrusion - Well crap

Posted by paeron on 2015/08/15 16:16

Final entry uploaded, wont have any more time. Art suffered alot and only got a few minutes of attention, no sound or music ( really looked forward to making some ) but I have no more time to spare. Only one map to play on which also is a bummer but I see this game as more of a prototype. Wish I had more time but my daughter needed that time more :) Had more features planned that I had to take out which is a shame. But hey, its not another DNF :) Looking forward to playing all the great games now!

More Data is Required - Day : TOO LATE, human coding has failed.

Posted by GrumpyGrizzly on 2015/08/15 14:27

Damn, I got kidnapped (not really, though) yesterday and had to spend a day outside. I survived the sunlight and all, but I'm not even sure I'll reach playable before the end of the challenge. Dammit. *Runs to code*

Cleanerbot - Some progress

Posted by etmaifo on 2015/08/15 11:47

The concept has changed a bit from the original. The data you collect will be used to upgrade weapons to defeat the bosses. The data you lose will be added to the health of each boss at the start of each boss fight. Clean corrupted data or face more powerful bosses.

Wikipedia 1942 - Pretty much done

The game is pretty much complete. I added a boss fight among other things. The code is still a mess.

Not your data - Day ?: panic

Posted by Gato on 2015/08/15 05:48

Ok, this is the final sprint... and the game is far from finished.

It looks nice and I'm having lots of fun, but there are still many things missing. I hope it will at least be playable by the deadline. In particular, some thing I would have really liked that just won't be there are sound, more than one level

Anyway... back to coding

Rushing Mania - Progress Report - Day 6

Posted by ApathysBlessing on 2015/08/15 04:38

We now have a game! Not the best game. Heck, not even a commercial-quality game. If I could implement every feature needed for a complete product in one week using freaking Python I would be on a beach somewhere and the Avengers would not stop sending me annoying group texts. Still, I'm happy with what I was able to accomplish. I can do this for living. It would be a dream job. I'm going to keep learning, and some day I will be apart of an amazing team of people, making games for the world to enjoy. And on that happy note, I have some editing to do, so more COFFEE!!!

master47pyw20 - Day 5 or 6?: Game works, all 25 levels have been done. Only few things missing.

Posted by Master47 on 2015/08/15 00:47

Okay, all 25 levels of the game have been done. What's left is music, sounds, extending the main menu (help, controls, story, ...), highscore tables and maybe awards. The game is basically like Space Invaders. I am not sure about the awards. They would be a nice addition, but it will take up too much time I guess. Well, let's see, maybe it will still be possible! Highscores, sounds, music and extending the main menu will definetely happen.

Fragmented ~A Dying Land~ - Day 6 progress

Posted by Jjp137 on 2015/08/15 00:09

I'll keep this short since there's less than 24 hours left.

Basically, I've found some appropriate sounds, I've been making levels using my messily-coded level format, and I haven't wrote a word of the story at all. Also, I fixed a few bugs that popped up while making the levels, although I think there's this weird collision detection bug that occurs really rarely and that I can't reproduce. That might just stay in there, sadly :(

The code is pretty much done at least, and I'm happy about that :)
