March 2006 challenge: “It runs on steam!”

lemach - First Playable Build

Posted by lemach on 2006/04/01 21:24

Controls are w and up arrow, for the the first and second players, respectively. As you hold down the key, steam pushes the paddle upward, otherwise gravity takes over.

Hello - Throwing in the towel

Posted by nansub0111 on 2006/04/01 21:19

I was not able to finish as quickly as I hoped. The game is incomplete. It is more of a demo than a game. Even so, I've decided to submit what I have. In case anyone is interest in seeing where I was headed.

I had a lot of fun participating. I hope to take part in another contest in the future.

Good luck to the rest of you. I look forward to seeing the final entries.

Neowert - I cannot go on

Posted by neowert on 2006/04/01 21:14

Well, I did not have most of the week fre, so not much wrk time. I though i would finish, but I am just too tired, and when my program was almost working, I found a bug I couldnt fix and just broke the program. Wish I bothered with svn. Eitherway, I need to sleep. Happy next pyweek.

Nelly's Rooftop Garden - A game emergeth!

Posted by alex on 2006/04/01 19:55

Most of Friday was coding and drawing, then 5 hours sleep, then 22 hours straight coding since then until now. But it paid off! I honestly didn't think I'd get a playable game out of this idea, but I did, and you can play it.

There are only 8 levels so far, plus the sandbox free-for-all, I will see how many more levels I can add before the deadline.

Hello - still in the contest...

Posted by nansub0111 on 2006/04/01 19:30

ok. i've had to cull out a lot of features. now the game is about serving espresso. customers come to the tables and you serve them as fast as you can. that is all i can do in the time left. hopefully i can finish that.

Opioid - Last evening panic :)

Posted by shang on 2006/04/01 18:59

Sooo many things undone. On the upside, I think we'll get enough gameplay elements implemented this time to actually make a playable and (IMHO) pretty fun game. On the downside, there won't be time to add polish, and our entry will probably be without sound and music. All the menus will be a last minute job too, so no fancy graphics there, unfortunately.

I'm already looking forward to producing the "2.0" version after the competition. :)

The different levels for our game are done (10 in total) and what is left to do is add a title screen, menu and scoring.

Evil Mr Henry - Final Version

Posted by evilmrhenry on 2006/04/01 18:49

I've uploaded the final version.

By the way, for a "do-it-yourself" April Fools joke, open up gameloop.py, go to line 142, and change 750 to 7500

What does this do? I'll let you figure it out.
