Bot Builder 2000 - Thougts on Skellington and submission

Posted by bjorn on 2008/04/06 05:44

Well due to my own ineptitude (and being separated from my linux box so having to do it the windows way) I messed up the md5 sum for my team's final entry and so it was (temporarily) rejected. Thankfully I'd uploaded a less polished version earlier in the day, so all would not have been lost if I had not been allowed to correct my error.

From what I've been reading though I'm not the only one who had a bit of difficulty creating a correct md5. It got me thinking: Skellington is a great package and the create-upload script made it really easy to package our game; it would, I suspect, be fairly trivial to have that script optionally (but on by default) produce md5 sum along with the zip file. I think that could save some stress when it comes down to the wire.

Chain of Command - Final

Posted by ajhager on 2008/04/06 05:21

I was so busy working on my entry that I never got around to uploading an updated screenshot. The above shot is from one of the larger levels.

Overall I am pleased with how it turned out. I do wish I could have had more time to create levels. My entry includes about 15 so far, but I have been working on an add-on level pack since the end of the competition. If you enjoy the game and want to play any future versions or maps, I have set up a Google Code site. If you create some fun levels, feel free to contact me and I will consider including them in the next release.

By next Pyweek, I think I would like to have code for scene management and collision response taken care of. Those are the two things that kept me away from more polish and level design. Cocos looks like it fits the first part, and I will be watching it closely.

I learned a lot and had a blast (although I am now ready for a rest).

Thanks to everyone who made this possible, and good luck to all!

LEVEL 14 BROKEN? If you have been playing Celldoku and are having trouble with level 14, or the 4th Hard level its not because its too hard its because it is impossible.

Sorry about that!

We have provided the fixed level file **here**

Place it in the ./data/lvl/ directory. Thanks for playing Celldoku :)

Awesome Block Game 4 - Any comments on my game?

Posted by eugman on 2008/04/06 02:53

I realized from the last comment that I hadn't made a recent post for people to reply to if they liked my game.

Couple of things: Green powerups give you health and you can only have so much health. Sorry for the low contrast on the last level and the big difficulty game between it and the level prior. Score is only shown on the infinite mode. My highest score on that is just under 300 right now. The readme has some other information you might find useful.I'll edit in anything else I think of.

Awesome Block Game 4 - Central source for bugs and fixes

Posted by eugman on 2008/04/06 02:45

Many of the games seem to have minor running issues that are easily fixed. So I decided to throw up a wiki page again this pyweek for anyone to edit. The idea, hopefully, is that people can go there, find a specific game and see links to any posts hear regarding any problems or fixes. That and be able to try the list of working games firstto avoid any hassel.

I'll be updating it some tomorrow but feel free to move stuff around and add any links or md5 games not yet added..
