Ares Firma - Game uploaded

Ares Firma

I didn't have the full week again, so it's much simpler and shorter than most of my entries. Let me know if you find any issues. Thanks!

Planet's End - Note

Posted by Apex on 2022/09/11 01:58

Appointed unto man once to die; and one dead, cannot be alive. The inability to restart the game without quitting and rerunning the program was an intentional choice made to further emphasize the value of life. Strive to survive and your life will not be deprived.

Space Chopper! - Somehow we came up with something mildly playable!

Posted by FatHat on 2022/09/11 01:29

I gotta admit, at noon today I did NOT think we were going to finish this. I even told Brett this, it was a very hang dog "Well you know, I'm very proud of what we've done but I just don't think we are gonna have something coherent... blah blah". Luckily Brett is much less of a quitter than I am, and we managed to finish with about five minutes on the clock! I definitely had to optimize my time. I'm still in my bath robe and unshaven, as a game developer in a proper crunch should be.

I haven't used Python much in the past few years, so it was fun to come back to an old friend, and also mildly infuriating since every trivial feature I have in Unity is massively annoying to do in Panda3D. And I don't blame Panda for that! I find it to be quite well designed, it's just hard to compete with the major game engines you know? On the other hand, as a coder, it feels a lot more metal to code the entire thing, instead of attaching scripts to components.

We're really looking forward to playing everyone's game, and we hope you like our ridiculous game that's 50% about Martians and 50% about the shame of hair loss.

Project Aries - It's DONE !!!

Posted by BlackPanther42 on 2022/09/10 23:45

Finally the week is over...

It was truly exciting week. We left a lot of important aspects of our game to the last minute, but now that our work is done, Our game looks beautiful (at least to me). Would love to work on this project more in future if time permits.

Red Planted - Final Submission done

Posted by thp on 2022/09/10 23:23

We did some additional tweaks still, and the final release build is now available for download. We had lots of fun this time around, and are happy with the results. We're probably going to write a postmortem at some point, but now it's time to rest a bit :)

Cookie Monarch - Yay!

Hi everyone, I'm an another programmer worked on this project but had to have a break because of travelling to Canada. I hope you enjoy this game; it's our first game project on PyGame and it was a lot of fun to do. I believe that our team made a good job and you will like it. I believe that this is a real team project and we have some support from other people that is not in our team so wanted to mention them. You can find the "real" git project and look at the commit history to understand the project better here: https://github.com/Raus0n/Cookie-Escape

Hope you enjoy!

Cookie Monarch - My Short Experience

Posted by Phonem on 2022/09/10 19:40

Hello, I'm the graphics designer of this game. Actually i never had any experience in pixel art, this was my first time making pixel art. But i never thought it would be this great. This project found me a new hobby and im very grateful. If you want to see my pixel art works, here's my pixilart page: https://www.pixilart.com/phonem/gallery

I learned a lot of things in pygame during these 3 weeks its very good proggress.

Even though its just 1 week, it was like a month for me. I'm never going to stop coding and pixel art. I hope we can join pyweek 35 as a team once again! There are a lot of things we had to delete to send it until the deadline so were going to make a 2.0 where we will add everything we wanted to the game. heres the Git for it: https://github.com/testroyer/Cookie-Escape/

Cookie Monarch - Been to hell and back

Posted by testroyer on 2022/09/10 19:36

I thought the game was due to tomorrow but when I woke up today and saw the count down, I nearly had an heart attack. I canceled all thing for today and began on working.

The situation was miserable the game wasn't even half complete. I had use all my time and talent to finish the game and now here you have the sloppiest game of all time. It's really uncertain what to do. There are hell of bugs and gameplay is unbearable. But I had enough I've worked on this for 11 hours excluding other days and I'm pretty bored of this.

I'm actually satisfied with the result I learned pygame for this contest and made 2 games in like 2 weeks. I had school starting this week so I didn't have much time for doing coding on weekdays but I sent it on Saturday. My game(s) might not be the prettiest games out there and they might be frustrating to make but as frustrating as it is it's also very fun to make games, find and fix bugs, enjoy the moments and the happiness when you get a bug fixed, being surrounded by good teammate(s) and most of all being part of this organization

Thank y'all

Red Planted - Main Menu and Tutorial added

Posted by thp on 2022/09/10 14:12

To make it easier to navigate, a main menu and tutorial should help the first-time users get introduced to the game and stuff.

Main Menu

And a tutorial that looks like this:

Tutorial (first page, there are multiple pages)

The deadline is coming up quickly. The quality of the code goes down, as the focus is on pushing in all the features, not making the "cleanest" implementation. The game does work quite well in recent playtesting session, and the small things added in the last days add a lot to the experience (in our opinion).

Outward - Last day for this project

Posted by fireclaw on 2022/09/10 08:43

Alright, I'm done with this. Files are up and everything should work.

There may be some balancing enhancements and features left open but since I won't have much time over the weekend and the game is in a very playable state I call it a day and finish this up.
After all, you can run it quite well next to whatever you want to do since it's pretty much an idle clicker game where you just need to click ever few minutes after you initially got into it.

I hope you enjoy it! ^^

I'm still open for any kind of feedback so don't hesitate to come back to me. Some time for minor bugfixes should be available if you encounter any.

All the best and good luck everyone in the last few days.
