Space Chopper!

SPACE CHOPPER!!

The Martians are invading because they are sick of Earth leaving their space trash on their planet. You are Magnus, an ACE space chopper pilot. You must defend the earth, then bring the fight to mars. You want to shoot down UFOs and land to pickup civilians and fly them to the helipad. You can only carry four civilians at a time. Somehow we came up with something mildly playable!

I gotta admit, at noon today I did NOT think we were going to finish this. I even told Brett this, it was a very hang dog "Well you know, I'm very proud of what we've done but I just don't think we are gonna have something coherent... blah blah". Luckily Brett is much less of a quitter than I am, and we managed to finish with about five minutes on the clock! I definitely had to optimize my time. I'm still in my bath robe and unshaven, as a game developer in a proper crunch should be.

I haven't used Python much in the past few years, so it was fun to come back to an old friend, and also mildly infuriating since every trivial feature I have in Unity is massively annoying to do in Panda3D. And I don't blame Panda for that! I find it to be quite well designed, it's just hard to compete with the major game engines you know? On the other hand, as a coder, it feels a lot more metal to code the entire thing, instead of attaching scripts to components.

We're really looking forward to playing everyone's game, and we hope you like our ridiculous game that's 50% about Martians and 50% about the shame of hair loss.
