Had a lot of fun building it.

Unfortunately, I will not make it. Too less time for too much todo. In average I worked around 45 minutes to an hour every day. This what not enough from me to get a result worth packaging and uploading.
Nevertheless, I stepped in to pygame zero a little bit and applied some physics simulation stuff.
Wish you all much success and looking forward to test *your* games :-)
Ecotone - Final Day - Dropping Out
Posted by catsanddo on 2020/03/28 21:21
As this is the final day, and I don't have enough done to submit it, this entry will have to end here. I still intend to finish what I started, but I simply don't have the skills or experience to finish it in time. Another big reason was an temporary switch from Windows to Linux that revealed MAJOR cross-platform bugs, so I couldn't even test my own game. Don't worry though, this was a lot of fun for me and helped me learn a lot. This actually the farthest I've gotten on any project before. Expect to see me next time, and for me to actually finish my next game.

Managed to complete on time!(but still didn't work on a lot of details :(
I'm recording the walkthrough for each ending tomorrow, the game is being packaged and uploaded at the moment!
O. K. Team - It's official: we don't make it in time.

Bad time management. Lots of distractions. Next time will do better. See you in 6 month.

Post your highscores here!
If you want you can prove it by making a screenshot with the highscore on the game over screen with "new highscore" message.
Journey of the Monarch - End of "day 2" coding with < 24 hours remaining!

We haven't put as much time in this week as I hoped we would. We put in some dedicated time today though and moved from basically nothing at all like a game (just an animated butterfly on a green background) to something that resembles a game.
Tomorrow we'll put on some finishing touches (instructions, menu, win/lose screens) and then look forward to trying out everyone's games next week!

Today I spent a few hours pulling together the prototype thermal mechanics. There are now two plant varieties that spawn and may potentially die off. However, I'm not sure how to turn this into an actual game... despite some time spent fiddling with the constants tuning it so that the butterfly has a significant effect and the plants have a useful behavior appears rather tricky.
I still have some time tomorrow, so I'll see what ideas I can come up with that might be useful. Lessons learnt from this - I have a tendency to try to make things with ill-defined or overly complex mechanics, and maybe something easier to nail down would be better?

The journey has been a blast so far. I hope the game will be finished before deadline :)
