Posted by hidas on 2011/09/17 18:34
I didn't have a lot of time for this Pyweek, and today is no exception. I'm uploading a final submission now, in case I don't have time later today. Still no music. :(

NoNe - NoNe. My game for PyWeek 13. Day 2-7.
Posted by noTformaT on 2011/09/17 18:12
Hello. So ended my first competition PyWeek, my project "None" I could not do in the allotted time, but during that time I gained a lot of experience. Diary of development, I was not able to fully, the main reason it was not for his time, so now I will try briefly to tell everything that I did during that time. For its project, I chose the library PyGame, in my opinion, this library is very powerful, and even a novice like me its quite easy to master.
And so, everything, and briefly:
Day 1: In his diary of the project that day. I wrote about how was
Day 2: On this day, I'm a little tired after work, so not able to devote all my free time on it. This day was not very productive for a whole week.
Day 3: All I did on this day you can see from the screenshot and on this video.
I made a simple 3D model of the DNA molecule, and using PyGame displays it on screen. I also added the ability to rotate the model in any direction, like turning the model can be seen on the video.
Day 4: On this day, I began to optimize the project, my old home computer gave out only 10 fps, instead of 60. I spent the whole day, but still got his, now a project running on my old computer as needed.
Day 5: All I did on this day you can see from the screenshot and on this video.

On this day, I added controls the rotation of the molecule. Added the ability to select a specific atom in a molecule.
Day 6: Due to a number of reasons I could not do in this day project.
Day 7: On the final day of competition I have not worked from project, I studied the projects that have already been made. All the projects I like. I'm sorry I have not had time to do my project.
Here's a short history. I'm sorry that I could not do my project, but I will not stop, i plans to finish the project before Halloween. This contest was not for me without a trace, he gave me a lot of experience, and I hope to make his first game. This competition has shown me that I should first have the experience, and then participate in the competition, so for the next competition I was very well prepared.
That's all. I wish all of our projects has made a victory. Bye everyone.
P.S.
I live far from the U.S., so I know English very bad. Excuse me for my bad English.

The Web is dead. Long live internet messaging! - Well done to all

Spent the afternoon trying to fix the issues with my game on Windows, but it seems this might be a Ren'Py thing. So this year it's for OSX and Linux users only (tested on Leopard and Ubuntu 10.10).
Still, better than my first two attempts, when I didn't have a working game at all!
So, I just want to say, well done to everyone, whether you've finished, given up, or still madly coding during the final hours. Hope you had fun!
To play; download The Web is Dead. Unzip it. Open up the directory twid-all.

Programming for 30 years now, never made a real game, gotta try now! - Fin - Not even close

This has been really fun, got me out of my data analysis/web programming comfort zone into something I've always wanted to do.
However, I wasn't able to devote the time necessary to finish a game, which I thought might happen. No worries, this has been a fun experience and I'm going to definitely finish my game as I have time.
I'll also look to enter a future PyWeek when I have more flexibility in my schedule, now that I've learned a lot about pygame and game programming in general this week.
Best of luck to everyone else, you've got some awesome looking games. Can't wait to try them out!
Cheers!

Magical Elemental EGGS! - Wake me, when you need me: final submission
Posted by Python Jedi on 2011/09/17 13:34
I've slaved over this project for a week, time to call it for now. It is playable, but there's no objective, and tons of bugs. toss any fix ideas my way, and I'll look into creating a better version on pygame.org soon.
and now for an emotion filled closing...
This is an unfinished game. My apologies to those who were looking forward to a full game, I had no chance of making a full platformer from scratch. I will continue development at some point in the future, but for right now, this is all that I can do. Thanks goes to Eggfu, for helping with a collision problem, and to saluk, for reminding me to create the ragdoll background with pygame.SRCALPHA. Thanks also to Richard for making this competition possible. I submit in peace since I know that this is the closest I've gotten to a complete game ever. Thanks again, and congrats to the winner!

Mutagenesis - Mutagenesis - Day 7
Posted by gcewing on 2011/09/17 11:38
Lots of improvements. Flowers, berries and other such things are now possible, with colours, shapes and sizes all mutatable. Tweaked the mutation probabilities a bit in the hope of making unhelpful mutations less likely -- not sure how successful I've been with that. Pedigree of selected plant is displayed. Thumbnail data is saved with games so that they load faster.
I think I've pretty much got to the point I was hoping to reach. Time for a release!
Here's new starting plant, with some variations.
