September 2021 challenge: “Neverending”
The Grind Never Stops - Playability Upgrades
Posted by Cragon2409 on 2021/09/23 06:25
I added functional screens for the blacksmith (does sword upgrades like rotation speed, damage, and length)
and for skill upgrades (active and passive skills)
I also decided that i wanted more delineation for the enemies so I made them different sided polygonal prisms. The more difficult the enemy, the more sides the polygon has, as well as a different colour. This allows for the player to have a visual understanding of how difficult a certain enemy is. I also implemented a system to determine when a point is inside of a polygon that i designed a while ago.(i can explain it if anyone is curious but its a bit of a mouthful, and sounds more complicated than it actually is).
I also implemented a feature where you can throw your sword and control it still (like Yondu lol), with the duration of this decided by an upgrade from the blacksmith.
Next i will have to make pixel art for all of these icons
Woundabout - What is the ouroboros?
Posted by Cosmologicon on 2021/09/23 02:54
The ouroboros is an ancient symbol of a serpent eating its own tail, used in alchemy to represent many different concepts including infinity, eternity, and the neverending cycle of life and death.

Inspired by this, I'm making a Snake-like game where you have to bite your own tail.

Infinity Slasher - Made good progress today!
Posted by MysteryCoder456 on 2021/09/22 18:40
Today, I've added the ability to switch between the three platforms and added horizontal movement so the player can avoid the lasers. However, I originally did not intend for the game to have any horizontal player movement.
Also, another cool thing I decided to add was particles! Whenever the player moves between platforms or the orbs shoot a laser, there are cool particles thanks to Godot's particle system.
I would say that I've made some good progress in these last two days.
The Neverending Quest - Made my own physics!
Posted by JustAnotherCode on 2021/09/22 18:21
So I decided to code my own physics system and it works! It's definitely not perfect but it works at least.
Anyway I also managed to make the game actually be neverending since there are now infinity, yes I kid you not, infinity levels.
I fixed up random level generation a bit so now it is MUCH more fun and there is no way that it is not possible, there are also multiple ways you can go to get to the end of the level.
On the TODO list is enemies, npc's, main menu, and sounds. If I have time I will also try to make some cut scenes but can't make any promises for now.
