PyWeek - Flow Wolf - feedback

The graph–calculus–flow–rate idea was decent; it looked like the game could have some interesting challenges if more buckets were introduced. It would have been nice to have a few more levels to introduce the concept more slowly – I found myself confused about what it all meant on the final level, since there was not much explanation. It still made for an interesting trial-and-error challenge, though.

The goal of the game, the instruction and what does what are not clear, so apart from randomly clicking and trying around, I did not really "played".
The idea and the logic seems to be original.

This feels like a job simulator. I know nothing about industrial process control, but I bet there's someone out there sitting at a valve and doing this stuff.

I bumped the numbers and watched a graph go up and it was a bit too much, so I decreased them slightly and then I completed it and felt very mathematical. I don't think I understood exactly what I was doing though - the explanations didn't make a great deal of sense to me.

Game seems short. And I do not understand whats going on. Inputs barely changing anything.

Really creative take on the theme! I certainly haven't seen any other games quite like this in PyWeek. I feel like I learned something, and the challenge level was just about right. The friendly help system and the graph were both really nice touches that made it much more comprehensible. It was a little hard for me to gauge the results of my actions, because I was never sure when things had settled down, and I got impatient waiting. I think maybe a button to speed up the passage of time would have helped me get faster feedback. Other than that I think just more scenarios would have been fun.

Well done with the entry. The music was really cool, reminded me of FTL. It was an interesting idea but a bit academic for most of us I think. One need to know the basics of control theory to understand it (which I do), maybe it could be simplified to have things work more intuitively.

Hmmm... I have to admit, this felt more like a school examination than a game. ;-) A really great idea though and I liked the music.

A nice edu-tainment experience: you could teach an introduction to control theory class with this game. I liked that the game had a tutorial to go with it, and the combination of graphics and music made the game feel “complete”. It’s a little bit short though, and I’m not sure I’d really class this game as being “fun” per se. Feels a bit bland when presented as an industrial control simulation: You could integrate this idea into more of an actual "game" setting.

I liked the use of the graph, to give the idea of controlling the system. It felt a bit too slow for me, which made it difficult to get a feel for how what I did effected the system

I didn't really understand how the automatic tuning helped me. Then I won after fiddling a bit. Interesting concept but would need a bit more to be turned into a game proper.

Maybe there is a way to turn "configure a PID controller" into a central game mechanic. This doesn't seem like it. It's a cool simulation, maybe even a useful program for teaching, but not a fun game, sorry. But nonetheless, congrats on making a completing a neat little program.

This game was not very fun. The graph was really nice though. Maybe if the graphics were a little better, it might have been more appealing to me as a game.

The game was definitely engaging. The art and the feedback of interacting with the buttons could use more work.

The game doesn't have a winning condition, it's not fun playing it. I didn't see much creativity in this game, and it has no gameplay. The production is lacking, to be honest, your input flow isn't even touching the surface of water below. It is taking up way too much cpu for a game like this, the optimization is also concerning. And I see no connecting between the title and the game......
The first level was easy, but then I got hit with a wall of information on the second level and it was confused as to how the system worked. I think behind this game there are some cool ideas, but the sudden learning curve really gets in the way. I eventually managed to win without knowing exactly what I did, and it was an interesting experience overall. I think it would be really fun if it had more "game-like" elements.
