May 2012 challenge: “Mad Science”
Entity Lord - Day 6

Probably not going to be able to submit this game. I have the battle system working great but I have no other content. Just two black squares that fight each other with a maximum of 5 usable abilities. I have never written a turn based strategy game so it will be good practice. I will continue this project even after the competition ends and I will release it as soon as possible. Aside from content, I am also missing art and music so I have a long way to go.
Mad Robot - Change of plans

Because of the short time, we decided to convert the gameplay in action / adventure. We hope that the time remaining is enough to create the levels for the short story...
TheSheep - Failure is imminent

Sorry for teasing everybody with the graphics. After a week of absolutely no time to work on the game, I'm pretty sure I won't make anything bearable. I still plan to work on it on Saturday if time allows, but I don't think I will be able to make in one day anything that would be acceptable. Sorry, next time I will try and take time off work.

Been working round the clock (maby just a quarter of the clock) and am almost done with first draft.
By the way this is the first time i'ne ever done one of these diary enteries. Just wanted to see what it felt like.
Defend Mechanicsburg! - Friday, part 2

Lots of progress. Houses can create citizens, minions can recruit citizens to become minions or sparks, minions can be ordered to build laboratories (although the construction process itself isn't quite finished yet).
Also, the other side is able to construct waves of units which assault you fairly effectively if haphazardly.
Plan for tomorrow: Finish building construction, add some missing UI elements, and start adding more unit types.

Wow, we're almost there. Kind of relieved :)
Today was productive. The entire ending sequence is finished. A couple new enemies have been added. Random mob spawning. Some animations.
What's left is some polishing, addition of music and sound effects, the opening introduction, and maybe credits.
I'd post more screenshots, but I'm too sleepy.

Field Commander Igor - Disappointment

Less than no progress, part two:
I discovered that the work I did on Wednesday was a waste of time. Almost all of the functionality I implemented was already available in the pygame.mask module.
A learning experience, perhaps?
I also spent an hour struggling against what I believe to be a pygame bug.
I have a bunch of errands to run tonight, and I am booked solid on Saturday, so my participation is effectively at an end.

Last pyweek, i was way too ambitious, and didn't even get close to finishing. This pyweek, I've had less time to work on it, but have done much better time-management wise.
That being said, I will have a completed, functional game for the end of the contest, but I've made a few cuts and I worry that it may not be very fun. I choose to make a side scrolling platform game since I've never done anything like that before. Things that need to be added are a display for your inventory, some status updates, and a pop-up dialog.
Things working:
Smooth movement
Accurate physics (things don't get stuck in the floor!)
Stable keyboard control
Title screen, pause screen, save and load
Elevators and call buttons
Things to finish:
Needs a few more monsters
Needs doors and keys
More levels
Boss
