A Public Apology to Mauve

Last PyWeek, Mauve and I decided to team up. Our loose plan at the beginning was that I'd do most of the core development and Mauve would do graphics, level design, and help with coding. He graciously let me go with git even though he preferred mercurial. During brainstorming, I quickly realized that Mauve is intelligent, capable, and diligent, and I was excited to work with him.

As we got a few days into PyWeek, however, it quickly became apparent that I was having a hard time dealing with my new full time job and doing PyWeek at the same time. I came home from work burnt out and unable to muster the motivation to get things done.

Mauve took it in stride - he did not react negatively, but instead suggested that I try the Pomodoro technique.

I failed even at that, and Mauve ended up doing the PyWeek alone.

I'm really sorry, Mauve. I still feel like shit about what I did to you, and I hope you can forgive me. I'm amazed by what you came up with by yourself, and I think you're an all around awesome guy.

Aw, thanks.
It happens to the best of us. I hope you'll be back for this PyWeek!
I think half the value of PyWeek (for me) is witnessing a small experiments in personal time management and team dynamics. When it works, it's great, and when it doesn't, it's a chance to learn something without world-breaking consequences.
I was sad for you guys. But it was a relief not to have to compete with death-defying corndogs! (http://pyweek.org/e/superjoe/) :)
