Is it okay to be drunk?
Other posters have mentioned caffeine. Is it okay to be drunk?I don't want to encourage bad behaviour in my co-competitors, but perhaps stimulants and depressants play a necessary role in PyWeek.
What stage of the creative process is benefited by intoxication? Which part of the PyWeek requires absolute sobriety?
Hang on. Need to make more ice.

I wouldn't use it to try to be more creative, though. If anything I think it would hurt the creative process.
Pomodoro. I find time boxing helps prevent me losing focus, and lets me mix and match activities better so I don't waste a whole evening chasing a dead end.
You can supposedly use it to help measure how fast you're getting things done and so guide your estimates for the future, but I'm not organised enough to do that. In a contest like Pyweek though, it might help you decide what you can get done during the week sooner rather than later.
If you're getting bored doing repetitive things try

It does not matter how you produce your code. Personally though, I would not try to use alcohol to increase my performance.
