PyWeek - Sixth Gear - feedback

While this is not bad, racing games like these are not much my style. Managing the gears is fun but I wish it had some more gameplay (but again, maybe it's just me). I like that you made it accurate to real life tracks.

My time for each track (min:sec:ms)

track 1: 1:01:23

track 2: 1:33:70

track 3: 1:11:93

As for the review itself. Its a decent average racing game. Cant say much about the graphics. Asphalt is spot on but beyond that. the areas outside the track could use some improvement.

Also some areas in the track you can cut across to shorten your time. Obviously this is not a realistic approach, but Id give it a better score if you can have some sort of collision to stop the car completely? Also no reverse?

It's Nice that you can keep track of your records.

I may be nit picky on this one but the loading times for level 2 it seems a bit too long. I actually was very close to closing the game because I thought something was wrong until the very last second.

Not bad! I like the simplicity and challenge level. Nice touch that it shows you track ahead of yourself, but a minimap would definitely have made it a lot easier to plan, especially since there are so few landmarks along the way.

The steering is terrible at first and I could not tell where the front and the back of the car was (and the car is so tiny), you can get used to it after some time... I imagine. The racing music - nope, that's terrible, especially with contrast to the main menu music. The game could really use some sounds.

This was a fun little time trial game! I wanted to shift down to slow down, seems like my car's clutch is a little messed up ;) Definitely cool to have a units selection.

Good solid game. Pretty diffult for me. Faint lines on the speedometer are hard to read. And at first I didn't understand there were checkpoints on the map (that I'd missed because I drove into the sand near this or that bend).

Cool idea and fun: I’m pretty rubbish at driving, so I wasn’t so good at the turns. For some reason the game played quite slow for me, as in the time seemed to tick on the clock very slowly: didn’t seem like a performance issue, as the framerate looked smooth. Would be cool if you could add a bit of scenery to the maps and perhaps some sounds to complement the music.

Well done.
I got window freeze when loading. Hint: add a pygame.event.pump() somewhere in the resource loading loop to avoid the window freeze (happend with py 3.7.3, pygame 1.9.5 on win10)

An application icon would have been nice too.

Won't run on Linux (latest Ubuntu):

The driving is pretty smooth and the camera movement makes it feel quite dynamic. Without the ability to see a long way ahead it's very hard to brake in time for the corners so it's pretty hard to attack the times.

the game froze after I selected any level

Quite nicely made, but not very exciting to play.

It was a nice drifting experience. And it was a great take on the theme(it was a hard theme). Just the controls felt a little uncomfortable and I didn't feel like progressing because there wasn't any reference objects around the road.
