PyWeek - Dark matter - feedback

very good polish. and I am getting the feeling you have very good software architecture. not my type of game but. I looked at the youtube video instead of grinding the game, and it looks like its very rewarding to attempt completion.

audio maybe simple but very pleasant.

Very polished shooter. It's fun and it has a good amount of variety for a Pyweek game, and the pixel graphics are nice. It was cool buying and trying out different ships.

Nicely done. But I think the difficulty was a bit too much for me. The bullet speed did not give me much time to mash my clunky keyboard and I crashed before I could really enjoy much of the game.

Really fun! You nailed all the basic elements of this kind of game. I like how you're able to reuse the waves with increasing intensity each time through. The various ships were great. It was fun to try out the tradeoffs between them. I had the most fun with the X-wing. I got to stage 30 with that one.

Nice little game, spiced up space invaders.

Almost sounded like a concert.
The first ship was too weak for me, so I cheated a bit with the health.

This was a pretty good game, I liked all the references, but it got pretty boring and tedious after awhile, being Mr soup man though was fun.

Really enjoyed this. It had a fun game loop, and the optional ship purchases encouraged replaying.

Nice shooting game to build in a week

Very well done. Assets blend together nicely. Game logic is good.
I think farming dark matter is the easiest by picking a strong ship and bulldosering through the asteroids early game then self destucting the ship. I unlocked superman by hacking on the source. Amazing game thanks!

Great game! I had a lot of fun with it and played way more than I was originally planning on!

Dam! This is an awesome game. Polished and a ton of fun. I can definitely see this one winning.

In all merits this game succeeds it’s a very well made and fun game my main problem is the game does get kinda repetitive and grindy if you play long enough you will see the same enemies over and over and over and you have to grind for so long just to get new upgrades also there’s a reason I’m saying upgrades instead of ships and it’s a really good one :) I certainly don’t want to spoil it but anyway back to the point this game is very good but those flaws do weigh back this game a little bit from being the best game on pyweek 36 nonetheless the people who made this game did a very good job and there work is very impressive

- General gameplay loop is fun
- Visuals and sound effects work great together, giving an old school vibe to it
- UFO enemy feels extremely tanky for so early on
- Red and blue sprites traveling down the screen cause some confusion as to purpose
- Very hard sometimes to spot what I assume is the "Dark Matter" that you collect to purchase better ships

This was really fun: I found it pretty hard but definitely liked the idea that even when you died you could save up dark matter for an upgrade: I wouldn't have perhaps liked to get more dark matter for my efforts and ascend the foodchain of cool space craft a bit quicker, but that could also be because I'm not super good at the game :P ... Cool graphics! Great work!

Felt retro and challenging. Nice game. Good touch with the upgrades and selection of ships.

Not entirely sure how it matches the theme of the competition though. It felt loosely associated.

Did not run on my Ubuntu OS with the defined requirements. Had some issue with pyxel. Played the browser game instead.
