I liked the attitude on wanting to try to do something innovative, and taking some risks (i'm trying to pursue this as well) i depends a lot on what you want to do with the game, and how you can justify the visual expression of what you're doing - just like coding a game, drawing a game is also a cultural issue - more games you know and play, more you may want to have on your game something you think is unique no other game has - i think this is all the spirit of indie game coding! :) please comment!
