is it kosher to also add details of problems we've run into we don't know how to fix, in case others can offer advice? or is that a bit too much like publically badmouthing the games in question during the judging?

No it's quite good to post problems. just make a section for it and post thwat you were doing, the stack trace and any relevant details os.

When in doubt make sure you are posting facts and not opinions. It's not wrong to say it doesn't work or it runs slowly but it is bad to say you think it sucks because of that.
