PyWeek - DEEP-6 - feedback

Interesting concept, I played for a little while but hit a few bugs. I like the heat-based combat, but it was a shame that it was not possible to win a battle. Obviously many parts of the game are under-done, and in particular some sort of GUI would have helped a lot.

I think it took me longer to install all the dependencies then I played the game.
I played a fair bit of space-sim games and I always like the trading part of these games - but the trading part alone just won't do. I just don't feel like checking the price of all 90 commodities in all the systems to figure out what's worth trading, not with no graphics, sound, music, or ability to save :|

I feel pranked. I spent a long, long time installing everything in msys2 to get your requirements.txt fully installed. Turns out you don't even use most of those packages. It's really important to make requirements.txt accurate. I played enough to buy and sell some stuff. There are too many commods, but I respect that the prices are kinda accurate.

This has the biggest requirement (scipy) of all games! :)

There are some pretty cool science and sci-fi details in game. The crew comments were a nice touch. Unfortunately, the combat issue noted in diaries did ruin it a bit. Hopes it doesn't discourage you from making more like this though.

speedlimit35

could run the game. The requirements were not working even though I pipped them all.

wow, haven't seen a game with that many dependencies!
For that many dependencies... not sure why they are needed for this simple text based game.
No gfx, no sfx. I could not figure out hot to beat the pirates. Actually not sure what I had to do to play. Trade? For me it was not that fun to fly around and find out which place to sell and at which place to buy.

Your screen shot let me hoping for more...

Lots of nostalgia for Elite. ;-)

Seems like this game might be quite deep, but it is slow to play. I immediately got trapped in a battle with a pirate and they stopped attacking me, but I didn't seem to be able to kill them. Overall impression is that I wasn't getting enough feedback on what my actions should be and why.

I didn't play for long, but I really liked this. I do love a text-based game. It's a classic game of buy low, travel, sell lower and lose because you bought entirely the wrong things type game ;) I would definitely play this regularly if it got improvements and bug fixes!

The game idea is great, but it's not really in a finished state. The combat seems very difficult (if not impossible) to escape, and there are so many possible elements to buy that it's a bit of a guessing game unless the crew chip in. My game finally ended when I forgot the 'kg' on an order of xenon. The interface is nice, though, considering it's text-only.

Love the idea for this game. And 100% text is cool to see now and again.

While there is a not in the readme about that combat system being underdeveloped - I would have enjoyed this game a lot more, if the combat system was either different or not there. The main downside of the combat for me was it took so long to either disable the enemy or become helpless, that it took me away form the part of the game I enjoyed. However, I think the combat system that is there, is an awesome first version of something, definitely needs more refinement, but could be really good.

Huge universe but very little to do in it. Purely as an elite-trader it falls flat. There's way to many things to trade in and all the system names are impossible to remember, making it difficult to chart what is valuable where which makes trading come down to luck.

Looking at your first diary entry I have to say it was quite a bold scope with a lot of different elements. The type of game a lot of people dream of making but fail to, spending large chunks on their life on them. If you would have done that in a week, you'd have proved yourself to be superhuman. For jams of these size it's often a better idea to focus on one thing and doing it well.

You're obviously a big fan of science fiction and that's awesome, and it's really cool you generated a galaxy. I just wished there was more going on in it.
