Phantasma
Took a while to get the game running. I have Python 3.10 and disabled the system version check for it to run.
As this was only tested in 3.12, I can safely say this also works on 3.10 as well.
As for the game itself. It's your everyday basic top down shmup game. Gameplay is simple, direct, and functional.
Good work.

It took me a couple games to realize what was going on. Once I learned I shouldn't shoot the circle it became a lot more fun, although pretty hard. This guy's got a death wish jumping in front of my bullets.

Fun little game.
Wasn't immediately clear how it fit into the theme. The ally mechanics weren't clear.
Not bad for a game made in 8 hours though.

Everything seemed to work well enough. I think tying it into the theme more closely would have helped. nice try.

This was a pretty decent vertical shooter experience: I liked the smooth vector graphics and controls were good: there was a good little bit of variety in enemy types, but could have had a few more to keep the game interesting: also, there wasn't much of a ramp-up in challenge as the game progressed. Good job! (especially for 8 hours work!)

The partner betrayed us!! or maybe I was the one who betrayed him first? who knows..
Pretty good game, but I feel like it could use some more style.

It had music, audio, nice scaling effects. But got boring fast. Did not notice a difference if the accompanying circle was green or red (assuming red means it turned against you...).

I don't really see the connection with the theme without your description saying that there is an ally. I think maybe the traitor element is when you hit that green circle, it will become red and do damage to you. But this much in only 8 hours is pretty impressive
I missed the concept of the "traitor" in my first playthrough (maybe make it easier to hit your companion?), but that's such a funny idea, and the pun in your game title referring to that is great. Those voicelines would have been great.
