You're allowed to use fonts that are available on a system. You're not distributing them, so that's OK.
Indeed some fonts are not redistributable without purchase or other explicit permission. I believe some of the fonts you mention may be redistributable under some circumstances but I'm not entirely sure what those might be.
On the other hand, there's the completely free Bitstream Vera family of fonts and derivatives. And plenty of others.
you can also use libre typefaces from libre foundries, like from http://ospublish.constantvzw.org/foundry , http://www.vtf.fadebiaye.com/ - mostly are using licences like OFL, GPL, BSD, etc...
