I Think I've Had it With Platformers

I have to admit it. After trying to force myself to work on Foxen (And a few other things), I've finally run out of interest in platformers. It just isn't fun anymore.

I really need to explore other genres. Which I have been.
I guess I'm posting here to vent. I hope that's okay... (Not the first time I've done it, I suppose...)

I'm really starting to hate platformers. I think it took doing one without a set deadline for me to realize that.

It's gotten to where it all feels like boilerplate. I've written the same bite of code over and over, and even recycling chunks of it doesn't seem to alleviate it. It turns into game after "Could've done it in Game Maker" game, and it's finally gotten to me.

It's looking like Gunfox (From way back when) will be my last run and jump for a while.

I dunno. I really should be doing things in more than one genre. I've been getting really bored and a bit depressed, and I need it to stop.

I think that in this coming challenge I'll try a genre I haven't done before. Maybe a tactical game or a (Pretty short) JRPG. Not sure yet. It definitely won't be another platformer, though.

I've been working on a couple of games in other genres and am much happier with them. I really think that I've needed to work in other genres for quite some time now.

I'm hoping that I can actually find something I won't flake out of. As annoying as I'm sure it is for some of you folks, it's really frustrating for me, too.

I'm glad I could get that off my chest.
