Theme Baffilation
At first, I was a little baffled as to why all the themes had a common undertheme...I even became a little disappointed...
However, having slept on the problem, I now have some good ideas, and I believe the theme choice was good. It has forced me to rethink my ideas, and come up with something new.

I've started thinking of a survival horror game, based on an encounter with a theme park trickster. Trouble is, it will require _loads_ of artwork, which will be in short supply for me, this time round.
I tried not to be distracted by the overall "circus performance" feeling of the themes. If I focus on one title, forget about the others, then I can think of a much wider spectrum of games.
For example, pick a card could be about a story where a girl/guy draws a card at a fortune tellers, and it changes her/his life forever.. from a story like that, you could create a game of any kind.
As Richard said, the theme elements are not required to be pushed on every pixel of the screen, they are just to make your mind roll.
I think the overall circus theme is just meant to be a "cute" way to present the options. I.e. "pick a card" doesn't have to be a card trick thing, but any card-based game and "sawn in half" can be anything that has a game mechanic based on halving.

I'm hoping I have the same revelations, I'm pretty much baffeled with the current theme choices.I'm not too into making kiddy games, so something like pull a rabbit out of the hat I will have to stretch way out... waaayy out for.
Oh well, I guess I should not have expected a theme such as "Classic Arcade Game Remakes" :-D
