Hmm, the problem I think is that once your wealth gets up into the millions, you've got enough cash to buy up all the feathers at a location most of the time (barring glitches like the umpteen zillion peacock feathers that appear at Central from time to time). This is true whether you're a bot or not.
However, due to the aforementioned bug there seem to be about 3 million peacock feathers floating around at the moment -- if you're lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time you can pick some of them up at a good price before a bot nabs them!
