Where does this thing end?

I've been following the string for two days now. In the distance, I can see a city. I'm a little anxious, because I've never been this far from home. I hope someone there can give me an answer to all of this.

Update: I'm inside the city now.

It's really big! Just look at how enormous the buildings are!

Oh, and while the people here have been good to me, they only use their own language when they don't want me to understand them. I included a slip of paper I found. I think they're talking about manatees or something...
