Assembly Line - Assembly Line 0.8

One more last-minute feature. If you're running short on cash, you can now take out a loan to tide you over.

Legends of Kiralia: Shadows Dawn - Oh, well... Final submission.

Posted by ServalKatze on 2009/02/01 00:10

As expected we didn't manage to implement all ideas and features but at least some things are finished. Of course, there are still a lot of bugs, so save early and often while testing.

New stuff:

  • Music! - That was done rather hastily within 2 days, so don't expect too much.
  • New Bossmonsters - be afraid. Be very afraid. o.o
  • Sound effects - at least some..
  • Spells - You can now cast spells. Unfortunately, the monsters can do magic, too. ;)
  • Outro and new Intro!
  • NPCs - They talk to you.
  • Dungeon entrances - decorative and shiny
  • More balancing! - if they hit hard, it's meant to.
  • Other things.. I don't remember everything.

And btw the game gets quite bloody in the last level. Just as a warning for those who don't like a little gore or want to let their 2-year old sister play the game. ;)

Threads of Fate - I got a lot done, but it's not finished

Posted by richard on 2009/01/31 23:13

Sadly I got sidetracked by other things and couldn't put the final polish on the game before the deadline. A lot of the user interface has seen significant improvements. The AI is much better. The code internally is much nicer in many places.

This final release moves forward in a few areas: the AI is again improved and there's the very nice new user action interface which mostly just uses left-mouse clicks (the action menu is only needed in rare situations).

Unfortunately I also changed the way the tile mapping is done in preparation of using a new tile set ... which didn't end up making it into the game. I'd still like to put a new tile-set in.

Assembly Line - Assembly Line 0.7 Uploaded

Lots of new features and improvements. Highlights include:

New machines: Transverse Saw, Milling Machine, Laser Cutter

Parts can be transferred from one factory to another, so you can reuse your offcuts, build assembly lines that span more than one screen, etc.

Infinite replayability! Once you've got through all the built-in products, turn on Special Orders and you'll receive orders for randomly-generated products that you have to work out a price and tender for.

Gondola - Not working out

Posted by joey101 on 2009/01/31 04:44

I'm sad to say that further development on gondola just isn't working out. So nothing new is going to come out in the foreseeable future.

Hopefully this wont be so with the next pyweek. The problem here was that once the week was up and we took a break it was too hard to get back to working on it. I tried to do some stuff and revamped the interface but nothing significant (no new maps).

Gondola map creation process was horribly difficult. Which I didn't think would be a problem because it took less time to create a few levels the hard way than to make it easy to create levels. After pyweek it was obvious that the main thing the game needed was more content, but it was too difficult to make more levels; And re-doing the map format would take more work than either Matthew or I wanted to do.

Hopefully we'll be able to learn a lesson here for next pyweek.

Endgame: Singularity - Troubleshooting

If you're having crashes whenever you try to begin a new game, try turning the day/night display off. (And send me a bug report.) Any crashes on startup are likely missing dependencies.

Too much work since the piggy anouncement.
This release marked as final just in case, I expect to upload later a more complete version (this is just a image from my current working copy).
I like the new code to do transitions between screens.
Hope I can add some gameplay.

Threads of Fate - Small update

Posted by richard on 2009/01/22 00:02

I've not forgotten about this project ;)

I've been hard at work cleaning up another project: Bruce, the Presentation Tool.

I am holding off releasing the final pyggy version of Threads because I really want to re-do all the tile art. I'm not sure I'll actually get that done, but I'm hopeful. We'll see...

Legends of Kiralia: Shadows Dawn - Status: Just 3 weekends to do..

Posted by ServalKatze on 2009/01/16 15:41

... to do just about everything we've intended to do last year. At least Zahme has created images for all items and repaired some dungeon maps. Yay! \o/

I didn't to much except making the inventory, battle and shopping screens transparent. Now you have the worldmap as the background image. But you don't see that much because the text boxes are rather huge. Oh, well. At least I've made 1 and 1/2 song.

Zahme's sister will draw pictures for our epic intro and that's great! We should remind her to register here... looks like we have a third team member. :)

So it seems like we have way too much to do, not enough time to polish the game as much as we like and... hey, that's kind of like Pyweek! I guess we will be most productive during the last week(end). Heh.

Threads of Fate - New release soon...

Posted by richard on 2008/12/27 02:19

I've still been working on the game. I've added the much-requested simple command control. When you hover over an enemy a potential attack type is highlighted over them (eg. sword, bow or energy bolt). If you left-click at this point your character will attempt that attack. Speeds things up considerably.
