nice idea, cuald ade more fun elements

Good concept, needs a bit more polishing, maybe some bonuses (and a less irritating music :)), more spray power, and you have a great game :)

Very simple yet fun game! The bugs sound quite funny.

But, I saw the game in another machine. Music is simply *excellent* :) and graphics are cute also (except for the flowers maybe, that are no as cute as bugs :) ).
I didn't find it very challenging, maybe because the machine running it was a bit slow.

I made it to level 38, it's kind of addictive; then it lets go of you, luckily. Green hornet as a soundtrack works wonders :)

3 5 3

Very good production: music, sound effects, controls.

5 5 5

I couldn't stop laughing while I played! Awesome!

3 4 4

It seemed a bit to easy. Got to level 36, then had to go. A pause button might have been nice.

Also, the mouse cursor is slightly annoying visually... and no full screen mode.

Love the sounds and music.

3 5 1

Nice start, well done, especially if you're new, eh? I can definetly see where this game came from, can't remember the name yet though.

3 3 3

it didnt save my lasy score.
other than that, it's good game (though after playing it once, it's no fun anymore) and a nice interpretation to the theme!
for a first time, it is a really good game!

3 2 3

Seems like a fun little game. The graphics were pretty neat and the idea was interesting, definitely would have liked to see more variation and a lot more graphics. Seems like a cool start!

4 4 4

Cool music, fun game.

5 4 5

I Need more spray!!!!

3 3 3

Fun, but it gets kinda boring after level 50. I think it needs more challenge; I seemed to be able go on and on endlessly without losing. Two minor suggestions: mouse might be better invisible, and bugs should change image when they're dead (sometimes the sound isn't enough to know).

4 3 3

Quite fun little game!
Music fits nicely and the difficulty scales well.

Wonderful game! When I first saw the screenshots on the PyWeek website, I didn't think that the game would be all that fun to play, but I'm happy to report that I was mistaken! The soundtrack was a fantastic choice, and immediately set a great mood for the game from the get-go. The sprites were really cute, and the gameplay was intuitive and challenging. The little coughs that the bugs do when they die is appropriate, as is the "yuck" from the bumblebees. For some reason, Pygame seg faulted when I lost my first flower around level 8 or so with the following error:

File "/Users/clint/Desktop/pyweek-4-finals/trainingwheels/busy_busy_bugs/lib/main.py", line 527, in game
all.clear(screen,background)
File "/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.4/lib/python2.4/site-packages/pygame/sprite.py", line 335, in clear
2007-04-15 17:51:00.145 Python[290] *** _NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0x16e57c60 of class SDL_QuartzWindow autoreleased with no pool in place - just leaking
Fatal Python error: (pygame parachute) Segmentation Fault

So I'm not sure if that's your problem or Pygame's or the fact that I'm running it on a Mac, I'm not sure -- but regardless, the game was a lot of fun to play, and I was really impressed.
I also liked how you included the .blend files with the game as well! I assumed that the bugs and bees and flowers were hand-drawn because of their flat shading, and really wasn't sure if you had rendered the can and the pot until I found the source files. A little more lighting might have helped with those, but they were still very well done. Light shadowing and shading on the bugs and the flower petals could have helped, but I understand how that might have given it too plasticy of a look. Still, nice job for a week-long game -- I think you did a fanstastic job! Keep up the good work!

2 3 2

The bee is cute. :)

2 3 2 yes

The game was fun, but I do not see how the theme "The only was is up" applied.

3 3 3

got very difficult all of a sudden, after quite a few levels, otherwise, great, especially for a new-comer to python ;)

2 2 2

Very nice little demo, there were some nice touches, like the bug AI, as well as the bug spray effect. Not enough to get better scores, unfortunately.

2 3 2 yes

What does this have to do with the theme? Anyways, a nice effort, but gets old after a while.

3 3 4

Took too long before it got hard, otherwise a cool idea.

2 3 3

I had to comment out every font rendering in this game to have it work. =(

4 4 2

I made it to level 100 before I decided I was finished. Difficulty isn't scaling well, but it was
very fun.

3 3 4

Enjoyed the novelty of the game. My 3 year old kids were immediately drawn to it because they could understand it. However, they could not play it very well because the bugs move too fast and they would run out of sprays right away. This game really needs difficulty levels.

Overall, I liked it. Thanks for being a part of Pyweek!

4 3 4

This is more fun than I thought it would be going in. After about level 60 I gave up because it just got too repetitive.

3 4 4

Darned bugs.

3 4 3

Another good game that just lacks variety. The sounds are great, and the graphics are cute, but I just had to quit after level 55 when the game still didn't step up the challenge. Bigger boss bugs once in a while would be a great bonus.

_NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0x13b0fd0 of class SDL_QuartzWindow autoreleased with no
pool in place - just leaking Bus error halfway of level 5. music shuts down. no more sfx, and it
dies :) nice game anyways!

4 4 3

A very simple game idea.. it could be extended by adding new kinds of enemies (that move faster, do more 'damage' or just look different), but it's already quite addictive. Nice work! :)

3 3 2

Good execution, though the game was quite easy. I got to level 59 before quitting on my first try.

3 3 3

Nifty. Well done for a first time effort.

4 4 5

Clever. The trick is to get as many bugs with 1 shot. Took me a while to realize that :)

3 3 3

Fun game to play. Unlimited spray would have made it more fun may be :D

3 2 3

The idea is fun, just 3 simple elements: spray, bugs, bees and it's already challenging. The game slowed down very badly when I sprayed too much and hang a minute at level 6 (windows+linux tested), that's why I gave it such a bad production rating.

5 4 4

Simple but addictive gameplay! :D - The dramatic music fitted very well to the ambience and the
bugs-sounds were also nice. I lost my third flower in level 30 or so, but since then it just got
very easy (or I got really better) and managed to get with my remaining two flowers to level 122,
before I finally was able to stop this game to continue my review of the other entries. Very nice
game! ^^

4 4 4

I really enjoyed the game.. super different than the other ones, and the production quality was quite good. There was a big bug (a software one, not a hovering one) when the flight of the bumblebees music finished where the game would crash on level 9 though which was pretty annoying.

4 2 2

To be honest, I wasn't expecting this to be very fun, but it grew on me quite quickly :) Simple
graphics, but cool game.

3 2 2

Hmmm where is the up factor? Bees?

I like the intro music!
<p>
It had a tendency to segfault after a while for me, although it seems to be pygames's fault -- something to do with its sprite functions:

Not an exciting game and it's too easy.
