The game itself had a couple of ugly glitches, the character sometimes sunk in to the ground and you couldn't get it out of there again, and a couple of times it crashed.
Gameplay was a bit shallow for me, but it would probably go very well for a young audience.
*Very* nice graphics, with a consistent simplistic style all over.

nice graphics :)

Had fun exploring. Would have given it more points in "fun" if the implementation wasn't that buggy: the character would sometimes disappear offscreen or get trapped inside the ground (buggy collission detection, it seems).

Lovely production, it was simple but very professional-looking

2 5 3

So pretty! So big! But the title screen is more fun than the game :-(

2 5 3

More or less a platformer with an interesting innovation (the evolving character).

Unfortunately the world is not very interesting to explore. There appears to be rather little to do but collecting some objects. That requires a lot of walking/swimming/flying and didn't really hold my interest.

Very high production values: music, graphics, intro all very well done!

With some more work on the content this could become an excellent game over all.

4 5 4

very nice work ... though you can still fall through walls

3 4 3

Nice game. I really liked the evolution thing :)

Amazing game. The change to bird was real surprise. But the worm and human were sometimes falling through the floor. And then they were stuck there.

4 5 4

This is really nice! With more variety and things to do, it could be an excellent game.

A small glitch - the curve generator seems to get a bit confused with the narrow parts of the lettering.

Seems like this game had a freak load of potential but Richard getting his job hindered a lot of the testing. It was very cool to see my little grubby guy flying around and swimming and what, but I was getting a lot of errors when trying to play that would hinder my gameplay. The graphics were cool, I really liked the neat 3D style and the nice texturing and everything. Also I'm a huge fan of the Shadow of the Colossus targeting system, such a cool idea.

4 5 4

Very cool gameplay, although I felt it was a little random at times. Also, the collision detection with the character and the ground was a bit off. I had trouble with the butterly mode as well. All told, very enjoyable. Thanks!

2 4 2

not much to do in the level, but a lot of potential. evolving into fish/bird is nice and so is the engine.

2 5 3

Nice graphics, very nice engine, it's screaming for moving enemies to make a fun game.

4 5 4

Cute and fun!

(At first, I thought the collision detection bug was a secret area, a la the old apogee platformer games.)

Amazing exploration game and excellent music. The only issue I had was that I kept getting stuck to the ground. It happened three times, but I tried a fourth time just to finish the game. Although the world is quite beautiful, I wish that there were more to do than just explore around looking for items. The idea of changing forms through use is great.

Great intro, great graphics, a whole lot of bugs.
Gave up on my fifth try due to bugs that wouldn't let me finish.
The first two times I tried to jump over a piece of land as a fish and got stuck. The other two I fell through the ground and the last time I got stuck in a wall.

3 5 3

Excellent polish! Unfortunatly the game is kind of monotonous as it is... Lots of potential to make this a really great game though!

3 4 4

Really spiffy concept!
I fell through the ground a few times though ;)

3 5 4

Top notch! The music is wonderful and I never got bored of listening to it. The first time playing the game I hit an enemy and promptly got stuck in the ground, from which I could not escape. The second time playing, I did not get hit, but I wandered round and round the map (this space left blank), but never found the 3rd item (the donut). Eventually, I turned into a fish, then jumping on land I became a slug shortly before falling into a shallow pool of water. I wasn't enough in the water to turn into a fish, nor was I large enough to jump out of the water in order to become a bird, nor could I gain enough traction to walk to turn into a biped, so I was stuck as a slug who couldn't get out of the water. Goodbye game number two. The third game, I finally read the readme, and learned what the spacebar did. I decided to give it one more shot, and was able to quickly save the earth. Horray!
The game gets top notch for music, sound effects, and graphics. The intro movie was fantastic, and the gameplay was fun and innovative. The vector drawing system with automatic normal-finding was impressive, but buggy enough to cause me some issues in the gameplay. Also, I found the Lemarkian form of evolution to be funny, especially since it's such an obviously flawed theory of origins. However, it makes for a fun game premise, which is true of much fantasy. :) All told, well done!

Awesome game that shows some definate potential to be a fully playable game, I'm looking foward to any new additions to this game.

This game is great!

Game "froze" after pressing start, no traceback, the game just kicked me to windows and kept
running, kind of lke I minimized the screen. Once kicked, I could no longer get into the game,
and had to crash it :(

1 4 1

Playing was not fun at all. Since nothing is run against you. There is no challenge in this game.
sorry.

2 5 4

It comes across to me as an unfinished game. If you had some more abilities and there were more enemies... I also got confused by the mutations. I coludn't quite figure out when exactly they happened, apart from the fish mutation which of course happened when I jumped in the water and tried to swim.

3 4 3

Good start - liked the graphics and intro, gameplay was sorely missing.

3 4 4

+ The story was great!
+ Nice idea with an evolving character
+ overall a good production
+ nice curvy land

- The screen and the world tiles flickers
- the world is to big compared to whats in it. You can fly/walk/swim several screens in one direction without knowing if there will come something valuable or if you just are out of bounds.

2 5 3

this game has a lot of potential with better levels

2 5 4

Very, very nicely produced, and the morphing character is a good idea, reasonably well implemented considering the time frame. Unfortunately I can't honestly say I had fun playing it - mainly because, consistently, I would run into collision bugs and be stuck in the ground before I'd collected two items. :/
Highest production values by far, though. Love the music.

2 5 4

Excellent idea, excellent soundtrack and appropriate graphics. This game definitely needs some better level design, though.

Also, having some more player character shapes would be nice.

2 4 4

very nice graphics (except some glitches, but they are forgiven), and nice game concept either.
however, most of the time i was just wandering around searching for those items, and trying to figure out what do stars give me (except lives that i dont need anyway..), so in term of gameplay this could do much better.

4 4 5

Wish there were some kind of final challenge. I really liked the morphing and the incorporation of the the was really innovative.

1 4 3

interesting evolution ideas. there is no way to lose. level a bit to big, never got the patience to pick up all things. a bug made me fall thru the ground more than once.

Awesome Intro scenes and Menu.

The art work was amazing.

The idea of evolving to bird, walking, swimming was really nice.

The game would have been fun to play but
for the bug where you go into the ground.

Well, the game is large. But like mentioned in the journal entry, there just isn't enough stuff
to do. The collision detection related bugs are also quite a turnoff. The best things about the
game are probably the intro, which is great, and JDruid's music, which is even greater. The
graphics are well polished, and the gameplay has some interesting ideas too, like the
morphing aspect, but nothing there feels complete. The radar could also be always visible on
screen, as now it costs nothing to just press space bar continuously. Or perhaps the player
could use it only for a limited time, either way would be better.

I loved the artwork and the morphing between states. I can't say enough about the artwork and the animation. Very nice job. The sound track was OK, but a little cheesy for my taste. Overall the production quality was superb though. I did find a few glitches in the game (the animation for when the guy is standing jitters horribly on my machine), but overall they didn't really detract from the game.

With that said, I found the game to be extremely frustrating.

The world design seemed to not have been properly play tested, so it was possible to get stuck a lot of the time (it happened to me twice before I gave up). I also wandered a lot around the map looking for items before discovering the space bar (reading the docs would have helped I guess), although, this seemed very non-intuitive. A radar in one of the corners of the screen might have worked much better, since there was really no point in not holding the space bar down all the time (except for it looking slightly rude if the object was located below and to the right).

I never got far enough in the game (I collected 3 items at most before becoming horribly stuck) to figure out if there were any really nasty guys in the world, so the star hit point system didn't make any sense. It would have been better to have had some kind of puzzles based on each of the evolutionary states that had to be solved, or at least some kind of gameplay that related to each state. It felt like you guys really needed another few days to sort that stuff out.

5 5 5

Interesting gameplay. Great story graphics and music are terrific!

3 5 4

I think I liked the story bit best. Nice game, excellent music. Good thing you added the radar! :)

3 5 4

I hope you seriously consider finishing this because it could be really awesome. Although i imagine this sort of game doesn't ahve much replay value.

2 4 4

Good production, good tech, neat idea.
While the huge level was technically impressive, I think that a set of smaller levels might have been more fun. The game needs a challenge that goes beyond traversing the huge space.
Also, I managed to fall and get stuck inside the level geometry when my crawly guy changed to the walker on a steep hill.

1 5 4

Good concept, amazing graphically, and great music. That said it was rather dull. There
seemed nothing to do. The bad guys were no threat, and finding the objects wasn't too hard - it
just took ages to get to them.

2 5 2

Technically and visually impressive (except for the bug where yuo can fall through) but not that fun really.

5 5 3

A few problems like I sometimes fall through the ground meaning I must restart, also a pause menu would be nice.
