Congratulations to have built something in a week!

Nice game.I like the idea to extinguish the fire.

The game did not work for me at first and it had something to do with the sound not loading. I deleted all the sounds and got it to work.

Example error: CodecRegistry.DecodeException: No decoders available for this file type: data/sound/drop.ogg

The gameplay is kind of like snake but I think if you surround something, the inside turns into shadow? I like the snake and candle effects. It makes the game look really scary.

Cool shadow snake game: I liked the artwork: it was a bit hard to tell what was an apple or not: I got stuck on level 2, not sure if I was able to progress past that point or not? I CTRL-Nd to get past :)

Seemed to run into some error with the pyglet shaders

File "/home/user/.local/lib/python3.11/site-packages/pyglet/graphics/", line 486, in _link_program
raise ShaderException("Error linking shader program:\n{}".format(log.value.decode())) Error linking shader program:
error: vertex shader lacks `main'

It took me a few minutes to understand the game, but I think I figured it out now. I like how you can block the light, and birds will escape unless you approach them in the darkness. I think this is a very interesting mechanic. However, it wasn't important in most levels. The fire mechanic was cool too, but I wish there had been more challenges where you had to block the light.

Nice game, I was very confused at the beginning.

Author says they forgot a file and the game does seem to not progress past level 2. But I can still see the making of what looks like a pretty innovative game!

It was kind of confusing to understand what was going on at first, but eventually figured it out. The optional challenge of not eating an apple is impossible (I think?). Some of the puzzles were a little tricky and fun to solve. The end only brings you back to the last level.

It's a fun idea, though I don't think the shadows really did much for this game. I had fun playing it overall though.

love the special mechanic introduced for snake game
the graphics and design have rooms for improvement though
congrats on finishing pyweek!

Fun little game, a little lacking in production but still fun to play :) the menus could have used some polish, and the explanation of how mushrooms/apples/fire works too. The level where you're not supposed to eat apples only spawned apples for me which felt like a bug.

as a snake game, it makes sense gameplay wise, but other than that, getting stuck is a very real possiblity, since the snake cannot move through itself. the shadows were drawn with no apparent pattern/reason, so I can't say I was satisfied with that part of the game. the sprites seemed rushed and poor quality. additionally, the snake sprite would disconnect at certain portions due to a lack of enough sprites for the whole body, namely the turning parts of it.
