Starting Out
Ok, so I just found out about this today so I'm a little late to the game.
I've already got a plan but depending on time I may have to cut bits, I'm working all this week.
So here's the basic idea: The Earth is under attack from aliens who've decided to try to bombard it with asteroids. In response scientists have shrunk the Earth and fitted it with rockets and coated the Moon in a layer of steel. The object of the game will be to maneuver the Earth in such a way as to affect the gravitational pull of the Moon. By swinging the Moon you'll be able to deflect the asteroids back at the aliens.
At this moment I can't decide whether this should continue forever and be score based or if it should be wave based. I'm thinking the former just due to time constraints though.

Progress Report - Wed 1am BST
Okay, so I had to back into work this evening so I haven't had much time to do much. Saying that most of the backend stuff is done and I now have a working intro and title/menu screens. I'll get into the actual meat of the game later once I've slept.
Just to show I am doing stuff:

AAAARGH!
Ok, so today hasn't gone well, my phone died during the night so my alarm didn't go off meaning I woke up much later than I'd expected to and I now have an error in my code that I can't find the source of. It's an absolute pain in the arse but I can't actually do any more until I find it. >:(
On the bright side I've done some more art for the game but I have no sound and I doubt I'll get any done before the end. At this rate I'm not going to finish anyway...

Simplfy!
Ok so the whole running out of time thing has me a little stressed but that's good, I work best when a little stressed. I've gone over my plan and realised I really don't have time to complete it all so I've simplified my concept to be more like Space Invaders. Rather that having freedom in 2 axes you're going to be constrained to the bottom of the screen and the aliens shooting the asteroids are going to be constrained to the top of the screen. It's not ideal but it'll have to do. I think I'll probably continue this project after pyweek has finished and flesh it out into the game I wanted.
So I didn't finish...
Due to work commitments I was unable to finish this project within the allocated time limit, hopefully next pyweek I'll have more time. That said I can now finish this game as I was initially intending in my own time, which hopefully shouldn't take too long to do.
