gets boring after a bit

:-(

Going up a mountain wall fits the theme, but the game play is not very innovative, and shooting a falling rock does not appear to be a very satisfactory exercise.

I like the snow effect, and the sound effects were also quite nice.

I had trouble with the guns. I couldn't see my ammo at all (nor any bullets, if they are supposed to be there). A few big bangs would've been more satisfactory with a game of this type.

2 3 3

Neat idea, but the rocks are almost always unavoidable!

3 2 2

Is there a possiblity to play it in multiplayer? There was a screenshot with two soldiers. Than
could be the rifle useful.

2 2 3

I don't really get the point. Climbing a wall and shoothing falling rocks?

3 3 2

Quite good. For next time I'd suggest you team up with an artist, so you can focus on coding :)

2 3 2

Not bad, just not terribly fun either, and very difficult.

2 3 3

Is there anything to shoot besides boulders?

3 3 3

difficult controls

2 2 2

I did not enjoy.

4 4 4

A solid entry.

3 3 3

I like the menu backgrounds, but the in-game graphics left a little to be desired.
It was an interesting idea for the game, but I didn't find it particularly fun.

2 4 3

Very nice sounds, but it lacked a bit on graphics.

3 3 2

It would of been nice to have the enemys in the game. I didn't find any when I played.

2 3 2

So many letters on the instruction screen. :P Pity you didn't finish it, would've liked to see the enemies.

2 3 2

I never could figure out how to use my gun.

Perhaps zooming out a bit would make dodging the boulders a little easier.

3 3 3

A decent entry but I feel that I would like to be able to shoot while moving :)
It is quite fun in the beginning but gets old rather quickly unfortunately.

At 60fps the game was quite tough. The gun seemed pointless, as by the time you'd got it out, aimed, and started firing at the rock it had already hit you. I went in and tweaked it to run at 40fps max, and it was a lot easier - and the gun actually had a point. You should have probably made the speed of things time dependant, not frame rate dependant.

My other gripe was the full screen mode - it reset itself back to windowed mode every time you finished a game. Annoying.

"Oh yeah, and the burning satellite and the vibrations of the impact is causing a few boulders to melt and fall, they shouldn't pose too much of a problem...." Not much of a problem at all :D I wonder if you (== creator of PyClimb) has managed to win the game? It feels almost like you made the game extra hard just to make sure nobody could make it to the top.. "a few helicopters and support aircraft" is after all not easy to rent now that US has most of its troops somewhere else! :-)

2 3 2

The story is clever, and the game works, but it's limited to a simple climber without real use of the guns. The snow was a nice effect, but the game could use another week to improve it's current status.

2 2 3

Hey! Nice job on the game -- I liked how you took a simple idea, got that playable, and then built from there. The game was very challenging, and seemed to have too great of an element of luck in order to win the game. The shooting idea was nice, but it wasn't practical in the middle of the game. It might have just been because I have a fast computer, and it runs for me at about 80 fps, but I didn't have nearly enough time to use my gun when I would have needed it (though standing on the ground and shooting boulders was quite a bit of fun. :) )
Thanks for the fun game! It seems like you're really building on your skills, and I look forward to seeing what you create next time!

2 2 2

Ran reeeeally slow, did you have to make it use such a high resolution? Even then, the game seemed to lack polish on every front. Nice menu background but bad looking menu, nice mountain background but bad looking characters. Nothing seemed to fit together. Just be encouraged, there are much worse entries, and I can tell you packed a lot of features into this one (maybe too many to get them all right!) A week really is a constricting time limit.

This was pretty boring. A pretty basic dodging game. Maybe with some more abilities apart from moving left and right and climbing up, it could be pretty fun.

3 3 3

very hard to play in mac with one button! had to change the code.

3 2 2

needs to be polished a lot

1 2 2

Average games...

2 2 2

Not really doing it for me...

2 2 2

not interesting enough

2 4 3

Very hard due to the boulders coming down very quickly and completely at random (and sometimes in patterns that are impossible to avoid). Also, what are the guns for?

3 3 2

Cool game, but I would have liked to see the gun part incorperated a bit more.

2 3 3

The game just isn't that much fun to play. It feels like it is impossible to dodge some of the blocks.

I never successfully destroyed a block before it hit me.

The instructions don't say what key fires.

Having said all that, you made a game, you finished it, and it is playable. Kudos to you!

Thanks for participating!

1 3 2

Too long and repetetive and easy game.

2 2 3

Nice sound effects.

3 4 4

The idea is good - but IMHO the controls for the gun are not so well-implemented. In the submitted version you need to RIGHT-CLICK (get into gun-mode) then PRESS-[nr] (to pick your weapon). I'd rather have a default weapon (the AK-47) picked automatically when switching to gun mode. Oh, well.. Nice game, after all..

Well, the game has some potential. I like the system of having to stay still while shooting, and the graphical style isn't bad. Only the lack of better animation keeps the game down in the graphical department, and the sounds are very good too. The bad part is the variety of the gameplay - just avoiding falling boulders isn't very interesting, and the game has a war-related theme, so some gunfights would be a much needed addition.

3 2 3

meh

3 2 2

game is okay, though the weapons don't really make sense.. played through the game withouth
them and then learned about them afterwards in the tutorial... played again with pulling a
weapon now and then, which made the game tougher.

1 2 1

It's probably more fun than I think. I guess I haven't gotten used to the game play. Nice idea though.
