This is my first time participating in PyWeek. I have been a developer for 7 years, and am on my last year of my master.
I am very excited to try this out and see what other people come up with!

Diary Entries

Day 1: Lonely Timmy

So I was actually not really able to do any work today, due to family activity. Well atleast no coding.

So instead I spent the day planing the outline of how the game should be:

My initial idea was a sort Cookie Clicker game.
But after brainstorming, I ended up with an idea for a Lonely survivor game.

Timmy has to chop down trees and build a raft to get away from the island. I have ambitions to make it such that he can sail to a nearby island, but that is still up for discussion.

However, I have a solid ground for how the game is going to look and work.

Day 2: A playable game

Is it a good playable game?
(Far from)
Does it need more features?
Is the graphic RTX?
WHAT? NO! Why would you even ask that... just look at it :P

Well I am quite satisfied with how far I got with the game today. You can now:
  • chop down trees,
  • survive on the island.
  • Sleep only in the house
  • Use the wood to build a raft

Stuff that needs to be done tomorrow:
  • Make it possible to sail
  • Implement the feature for multiple levels
  • Consider to add some more obstacles or something

Day 3: Base game fully done

So as the title says, the base game is now done. Meaning that for day 4 I will mostly focus on adding sprites for the characters and trees.

I had a lot of fun optimizing the game.

Now you can also sleep in the house (with a nice aninimation. Additionally it has started counting days (so there will be some sort of how fast you can get away from the island)
Additionally you can sail from the island once the boat is large enough

Day 5: More UI and bug fixing

Today was a very fun day. I am really exiting to finish the game.

I mostly added some more UI fixes, and added more game mechanism to ensure it being challenging

Tommorow I will mostly focus on Adding title screen, settings screen and endgame screen.

Day 6: Almost done now

So day 6 is over. I am so happy with the result.

Almost everything is up and running now. The only thing that is missing is the thank you screen (and some GOATS!!!)
