Greetings

Hello everyone.

It's our first time taking part in PyWeek and we hope to have some fun competing with all of you, as well as to learn some new stuff. Our team consists of four people total: grzywacz&maciekl are responsible for coding, epi does the graphics and smart is going to provide us with some nice music.

Statistical mind.

Hi!
MaciekL speaking from UniLodians.
A statistical fraction of my mind cannot give up and shouts: Ask them what countries do they come from.
So I'm asking: Ppl, what countries do You come from? :D
We (UniLodians) are from ex-soviet-polluted Poland.

So it's started...

I must admit - the chosen theme forced us to completly rethink the idea of our game, but after having spent an hour or so yestarday night, we've come up with something that can be both nice graphically and playable.

I stayed till 6AM trying to write some core code and I've ended up with a placeholder music playing and nice button code, with mouseover behaviour and such. I'm completly new to pygame and Python, but having some previous experience with plain SDL and C++, I'm able to make progress, albeit slowly...

I'm going to post a screenshot when our menu code is completed, till then!

Not so Top Secret anymore...

Hi,

I guess it's time to unveil some information about our game. Basically, it's going to be a train game, and as far as genres are concerned, we're aiming for a arcade-logical crossover.

Let me explain: the player will be presented with a railway network, with trains going from one station to another. Lots of them. Player's task will be to guide the trains, by setting switches and semaphores, so that trains get to their destinations as fast as possible and with no collisions!

If we're able to design some crazy levels, I'm pretty sure that the game will be quite enjoyable. :-) I'm going to post some music and first screenshots soon!

First screenshot

Hi,

here comes our first screenshot (badly damaged by jpeg compression). Not very amazing, huh? We're still waiting for nice gfx from our artist and already have some really good music. maciekl, who's responsible for logic of tracks, switches and semaphores is rather busy, so we won't be seeing those in game till Thursday. In the mean time, I'm working on polishing graphics code and doing some preliminary work on help/tutorial.

Also, I've just realised that 800x600 may be a little too low for our needs, so we may end up using a fixed resolution of 1024x768...
