PyWeek - Batwima Islands - feedback

Needs an extra week of work. I spent some time trying to figure out the mechanics and it was interesting to see things in movement. However, it was quite simply too hard and chaotic (For example, losing people when throwing ropes). Keep experimenting with the rules and maybe improve the graphics. Don't give up!

Interesting Idea! With a little more tweaking, I think it would be a challenging game, but the way it is currently run, it seems there's no way to really win because every action makes you loose islanders.

Original idea

twisted?? islands or planets? two slow, could never finish level one, too many guys died.
funny intro screen.

3 2 4

Original idea.

This is definitely an interesting concept, but unfortunately I find it quite hard to play. Escaping the black circle is tough, and anchoring and throwing ropes cost a bit too much. On the other hand, these are things that aren't hard to fix. Another thing I'd like to suggest is having the people automatically go to the largest unflagged island. That's usually what you want. This is a nice game, it just could use a bit more.

2 2 3

I think the basic idea behind the game is ok, but the gameplay is slow, and the player can't even control the game in an effective way. Makes it boring rather than fun.

3 2 3

maybe a good thing to add to the game is to have some people who can tame tigers ;-)

3 2 4

A little bit confusing about how the game worked

2 2 3

This looks like it could have been fun, but it was frustrating to play: the interface didn't seem very responsive, islands kept getting stuck together so they couldn't be selected separately, and often islanders didn't seem to cross ropes even when there was a flag at one end.

I guess the problem here is the game elements aren't pulled together to make a complete game. It needed more time. It's not too clear what's going on, really. I think graphics are overemphasized in general, but this is one of those cases where a little graphical enhancement would have helped a lot.

2 2 4

Original game. But lacks of fun. It's boring to wait until one island collide another. And sometimes the tiger is very very annoying, making the game boring.

1 2 2

I couldn't really figure out what was going on here.

3 2 5

It's a very nice idea, you should keep working on it.

3 3 4

Interesting idea. There's certainly a strategy to playing this. There doesn't seem to be much you can do to avoid the tigers, however.

A few minor problems - F5 doesn't seem to completely reset the level; you have to click very near the centre of an island to hit it; sometimes one member of a roped pair goes off the edge of the screen and wraps around, leaving a very long rope between them.

It's not possible to rope an anchored island? Not sure what justification there is for that.

Is there really only one level?

1 2 4

Nice idea, but difficult to play, you're more time fighting to put a flag or a rope between the islands, than with the strategy itself

3 2 5

very innovative idea, though the gameplay is a bit slow. the graphics are "functional" and could obviously be just a little bit better: for example a real flag for the flag and small stick-people instead of numbers. the way it is it's more a sketch for an interesting idea!

4 2 4

I liked the concept, would have liked there to be a level progression where early levels were easier to introduce the concepts.

3 2 4

Nice original idea but felt something was missing.

2 2 4

The controls were very shakey. Didn't seem much variety.

2 2 4

maelstrom simulation looks cool

4 3 4

This was very entertainig and has a lot of replay value and a little strategy, i really enjoyed

2 3 3

Not sure what to do, but it looks like it could be a fun game. Thanks!

4 3 5

Very very nice, and lots of fun! Creative and original! :)

3 2 3

Lacked a bit in graphics and sound. I couldn't pass a single level, but then I didn't try all that much. Nice idea.

2 1 3

Production was very poor (probably could've improved a lot with little effort, for example using existing clipart). The controls were a bit unresponsive (sometimes needed to click several times on buttons or islands for the click to have effect). The idea itself shows potential

2 2 4

Nice idea for a game, clearly seeing why it's twisted. The colors you chose gave me a headache though, so maybe you should have refined it.
The game is simple but it takes too long to finish a level and you could have made a FASTER button that made the planets spin faster.

Tigers rule :)

4 2 5

really original game.

2 2 4

It's a great idea! I like it but this game is not too funny and his graphics are bad

2 2 3

Needs better help text and some balance to various game elements, but definitely an
interesting idea. Also need a visual way to tell what mode you're in (change mouse cursor
maybe?)

2 2 4

Maybe I just suck at gathering people, but the game is to hard for me. It doesnt feel like its possible to get mor than at most 15 people together even if you are very lucky. Maybe if you made the rope people get back and not disappear just like anchor people does it would be possible.. But I like the idea behind the game :)

3 2 4

Nice original idea. Needs some mechanic to affect the twist, or some other way to populate between diametrically-opposed islands.

2 2 4

interesting concept.

3 2 4

Nice idea!

3 2 3

Fun game to play. I liked the strategy involved and all of the actions worked well.

2 2 4

Either it's truly hard, or I really suck at it..

3 3 4

Interesting idea.. but I guess I won't come back and play it again. Some other game elements and nicer presentation (2 people pulling on a rope and then falling into the water) may increase re-playability.

3 3 4

Nice idea and it was some fun to play... but I got a bit confused with the numbers (I assume it is intended that I *lose* 2 People every time I use a rope?)

2 3 4

Original.

3 2 3

Looked itnteresting but was to unintuitive to get a hang of.

1 2 2

I don't like this game

1 1 2

no documentation, random clicking is not fun
