The music was very cool, and that strange scrolling with the items curving and getting bigger was an interesting effect. But a game of this kind requires a lot more content to be big fun. Hope you keep your work on this

interesting view effect

Nice scrolling background. Doesn't have much relation with the theme. Crashes after some fights. With some work could become an interesting and innovative game.

All I managed to do was kill my player... I loved the look though.

Neat style

3 4 3

nice music, funny graphics. gameplay needs polishing.

3 3 4

Cute graphics and a nice idea.

A little hard because there seems to be no way to know if you're stronger than an enemy or not. There's also no clear goal.

Wow I really liked the graphics style and the way the world moves (when you move up or down). The gameplay was also fun, and lots of funny things in there...

you ever met nethack? ;-)

nice funny game, nice graphics, nice view of the game land.

Couldn't get it to run on my Windows machine. Running echo.py does nothing, not even an error.
No information in the README file regarding this.

I loved the terrain moving! But I couldn't kill any robot. :-(

Very cool. The immersion is great, it feels like you're wandering around in a strange world trying to make sense of things. I like the weird perspective, makes it stylish. Same thing goes for the abstract graphics. Robots fighting look very cute ;)
There were however pretty serious performance issues on my (windows) machine - the game runs great initially, but after a few minutes things start to bog down and eventually you are running at something like 3 fps (in extreme slowmotion since there's no frame skipping). This made me give up after a while.

You didn't make this very easy to run on Windows. Neat game--the vector graphics and "stuff coming over the horizon" effect is great.

4 5 5

Truly original. A clear winner. Just needs some finishing touches.

it didnt use the theme.

4 3 2 yes

theme?

i couldn't make the music play (put it in the game dir, but it did nothin); after walking a while -
the game was more and more slower - serious bug (prevent people from playing a long time); On the
good side: i really liked the way the scenery is shown, the random rocks, and random position of
object in the game; overall - the game is cute but doesn't work well; i took the innovation score
two points down because i don't see where is the disappearing act

3 4 3 yes

No disappearing act? The visual style was cool though. There was supposed to be music, I think, but I didn't hear it. I wasn't sure what the point of the game was...

Something is wrong with the fighting. Often robots seem to go on fighting indefinitely without doing any damage to each other.

2 3 5

Amazing graphic engine, thanks for showing it.

3 4 3

Nice graphical effect. Don't think I've seen that before.

The main problem here is the enemy system. If you get significantly (around 6) more plating than strength, fights can go on indefinately. Rather annoying.

I love the style of this game, and the rendering engine is very clever, even if it runs a bit
herky-jerky when there are lots of objects on the screen. It's really a roguelike, and not a
particularly complex one at that, but it's got ... panache. That said, it's not that fun of a
roguelike. Most of the fun I had came from wandering around and reading the beat poetry. This
could definitely become something awesome, though.

Next time, make sure that there's a Windows-compatible startup script too, now I had to figure
out I had to rename echo to echorun.py to make it work. Adding Windows-style .txt file type
identifiers to readme etc. wouldn't hurt either. As for the game, I really like the
pseudo-3D-effect there, it works fantastically. Too bad the actual gameplay isn't very
entertaining, the low amount of development time really shows. The graphics are still very
cute, of course. :)

The game concept is pretty interesting. I don't think the fighting system quite fits the game
though. The graphics style and the pseudo-3D are cool. I don't think the theme is really
incorporated here... the way it's presented in the backstory does not make much sense. I'm
going to let it slide this time.

Very cool engine, and nice art. Also, I like the poetry. A few notes: Fighting is very slow, and
gives no feedback. Not having a .py extension on your main game script means you can't double
click to launch on Mac and Win. MP3 is not universally supported. It's better to use ogg for
larger files.
